THE MIND OF CHRIST 2 | WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL

Christ
The mind of Christ
CHRIST’S FREEDOM - “let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Phil 2:5)

Text – Rom 12:2 “be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God”

God commanded His people through Paul, to have The Mind Of Christ. Note that this is not an option but a command. We are not told to have a good mind, or a kind mind, or a mind purified by discipline, or a mind sharpened by intellect, not even the highest of human attainment in godliness and virtue, BUT the very mind of Jesus! God wants us to think like Christ! To have the very thoughts of Christ. The only perfect man who ever walked the earth. We are not to only strive to resemble Him, but to actually have His mind! This is a lifelong process. Today, we will look at the six characteristics of the mind of Christ:

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MIND OF CHRIST
1. Alive – Rom 8:6 “The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace” Without Christ, we are dead. Christ came so we can have life in abundance. In Christ, we have everlasting life. We demonstrate life and death every day, by the choices we make. By setting our mind on the spirit, we receive life, with life comes freedom. Freedom to choose what we say, how we act, what we think. Complete freedom from the flesh, being fully led by the Spirit.

2. Single-Minded – 2 Corinthians 11;13 “I am afraid, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” The mind of Christ is single-minded in devotion to Christ. One of man’s greatest problem is distraction. We see this in the parable of the sower. There are so many things that cause us to get distracted. Could be our needs, fears, family, work, entertainment, food etc. The single-minded Christian pays attention to with focus on Christ. Our minds must be preoccupied with sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

3. Lowly – Phil 2:3 “let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem other better than themselves” While humility is more of an act, lowliness is a state of mind. One cannot be humble unless he is lowly. Humility becomes a huge struggle if you don’t have a lowly mind. Lowly helps you show humility in your relationship with God and men. We can foster Lowliness by concentrating on a genuine appreciation of the person of God. When we have this perspective, we will not be haughty, we will have security of understanding our position under the greatness of God.

4. Pure – Titus 1:15 “Unto the pure, all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled” The natural state of the mind of Christ is purity. There are a million and one things in the world now, that tempt us at every moment of our lives. We must make purity our passion and constantly – without shame- fight them off. Make a deliberate decision to stay pure, even before you are tempted.

5. Responsive – Luke 24:45 “He opened their minds to understand the scriptures” Sensitivity to the Spirit of God. This can be attained through understanding the word of God. You understand the word of God by spending time with it.

6. Peaceful – Rom 8:6 “The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace” The spiritual mind is peaceful. This is a fruit of the spirit not an attainment. Your work is to set your mind, God’s work id providing the peace. Matt 11:28

Prayer – Father as i study to understand the characteristics of the mind of Christ, help me to remain focused on You alone and the example of your life. Amen

  2. As claimed by Stanford Medical, It's really the ONLY reason women in this country get to live 10 years more and weigh on average 19 kilos lighter than we do.

(And realistically, it really has NOTHING to do with genetics or some secret-exercise and EVERYTHING related to "HOW" they are eating.)

P.S, I said "HOW", and not "what"...

THE ENEMY WITHIN

Emotional intelligence  The world consists of different people from different places, with different personalities, traits and makeup. With only one main common ground which is the earth in which we habit on and due to these differences in diverse people,  co-habiting and condoning becomes difficult some times or rather most times in this world with other people. Differences creates lack of oneness, lack of understanding and anger becomes inevitable. People tend to flare up towards others.  https://pirevolution.blogspot.com/2019/05/the-enemy-within.html?m=1 Physical effects of anger Anger triggers the body’s ‘fight or flight’ response. Other emotions that trigger this response include fear, excitement and anxiety. The adrenal glands flood the body with stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. The brain shunts blood away from the gut and towards the muscles, in preparation for physical exertion. Heart rate, blood pressure and respiration increase, the body temperature rise

MARRIAGE A BED OF ROSES OR A BED OF THORNS

MARRIAGE A BED OF ROSES OR A BED OF THORNS Marriage a bed of roses or a bed of thorns  Marriage is a beautiful thing, it is an institution built on love and affection first before any other virtue.  In life, you don't get to choose your parents, siblings, relatives and even children but marriage gives you that opportunity to choose someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, based on love. Since the foundation of marriage is love (which means that you have an affection for each other)it should be a bed of roses which requires serious preparation. Most prepare for the ceremony and channel their energy, time and finances to the occasion which when covered or well taken care, they believe they are prepared for marriage. I'm particular about the neglected preparation which makes marriage a bed of roses.  These are: * Emotional preparedness: Study emotional intelligence. * Mental preparedness: Have a positive and right mindset about marriage. * Physical prepa
